Canada
Yesterday morning I completed my first leg; to get to Canada. I entered Canada at 7:00 in the morning and traveled near Calgary. What a beautiful city. And from there I rode through Banff, the Icefield Parkways and then into Jasper. It was incredibly beautiful as you can see from a few pictures. The Alberta sign is when you cross the border. I felt a genuine sense of accomplishment. The second picture is along the Icefield Parkway. The third picture is camping in Jasper National Park. You can see the river in the background. Camping is a bit more difficult on a motorcycle. As I got up Thursday morning early there was no one else awake at the other campsites. I thought to myself that I ought to go for a walk down by the river as there may be some wildlife. As soon as that thought went through my mind this elk walked by the campsite. There were a few more elk bedding down in this campground. Pretty cool to see such a large animal this close.
As of today I am 2338 miles from home. I ended the day in Dawson City which is the beginning of the Alcan Highway. I am on my way to Dawson City which will complete leg number two.
All is good. Bike is running good. No rain today! Though a bit chilly when I started on the road; 55 degrees.
And the final picture is in honor of a great guy named Dustin. I passed by where he used to live. Very cool. I must say I am very impressed with the beauty of Canada.
Grace and peace.
